ALERT: This Shopify Bug May Be Affecting Your Checkouts

Seen fewer checkouts over the last few days?

Quite a few merchants are reporting a bug on Shopify’s One-Page checkout on mobile:

It looks like the bug is affecting only mobile checkouts — desktop checkouts are going through fine.

While we’re hoping that the Shopify team is resolving this issue at the earliest, here are a couple of things you can do:

  • Add a banner informing your shoppers (on mobile) about the bug. You can also add a quick way for them to get in touch with your chat support.

  • Send emails to your cart abandoners/initiate checkouts to encourage them to purchase — feel free to add an incentive to purchase to get even more sales!

This ad by Lalo is deceptively simple but effective.

Let’s do a quick breakdown to understand how it communicates value.

The format is simple. The ad uses a soothing visual with a lifestyle image of its baby chair with a customer review.

The simplicity stresses believability.

But here’s another thing the ad does — it picks a review where the dad has mentioned not only his name but also his baby’s. Now if you were a doting parent, wouldn’t this copy elicit an almost emotional reaction from you? Now that’s using psychology to sell!

Plus, the ad caption stresses just this — the “high chair has over 100K happy customers”, and then lists its key USPs.

Lesson: When you have a winning product, showcase it!
