Bid Caps Or Cost Caps? Here’s How To Use Meta’s Bidding Strategies To Maximize Sales
Wondering how bid caps and cost caps work?
We’ve written about it here, and told you why we prefer cost caps over bid caps.
But that’s not the only way to use Meta’s bidding strategies.
Want more details on how Meta’s auctions work and how you can use caps to create campaigns to maximize sales while maintaining costs?
This detailed thread by @MrYoniLevy provides some great tips and resources:
Campaign bidding strategies & budget pacing for Meta ads.
In a tiny corner of the internet, among a few folks like me who need a more exciting social life, a discussion started about the differences between bid cap & cost cap (cost per result goal) campaigns on FB.

Our key takeaways?
Pay special attention to “the gap between estimated conversions and real conversions”, especially when using bid caps, and actively monitor and adjust your bids based on actual conversion rates for your optimization goal.
When A/B testing bidding strategies (but this advice should really apply to ALL testing), be mindful of audience overlap with other campaigns in the ad account. Finally, don’t run too many concurrent tests, and make sure you have enough budget and conversion volume to produce a statistically significant read.
P.S. Is there a particular strategy that has worked better for you? Send us a note with your experience and we’ll include you in our next newsletter.
Why You Need To Add Gift Cards To Your Holiday Ads ToolKit
Aren’t promoting gift cards during the holidays?
According to @rokhladnik, you’re missing out on major holiday revenue.
It's gifting season 🎁 and in 2022 I still find alot of brands who have never tested selling gift cards. 🤪
Hint: it works really well and you tend to get a lot higher AOV out of it as well.

And you know what’s amazing?
You can combine them with your holiday gifts on the landing page, or dedicate a landing page just to your gift card. (P.S. Customize your landing page for relevant occasions to get better conversions.)
And now you have a URL you can create an audience with and use for your next promotion!
Pretty neat, right?
Here are some additional tips on getting the most from your gift cards:
Remove them from your catalog ads to avoid Meta flagging your ads.
Keep the gift card values above your AOV (Average order value).
Run offers on higher-value gift cards to incentivize spending (Fun fact: about 25% of gift-card receivers never even use their gift cards, so it’s easy to balance out the offer cost!).
Have you run gift card promotions? How have they performed?
#ICYMI Speaking of gifts, this thread by @thedanielokon on DTC Twitter 2022 is a gift that keeps on giving — and it had us giggling with delight!
