Offering A Freebie? Ask For Something In Return

Are you offering your customers something free?

Asking for something in return will not hurt demand — and may even increase it.

Of course, the ask has to be something small, like a short survey, watching an ad, or writing a review:

The psychology behind it: When something is free, it grabs our attention.
We consider something free as different from any number (even $1), which disproportionately attracts us to free offers.

People are willing to accept offers where they pay through time or effort instead of money, even if the costs exceed the benefits. It’s just how our brains are wired! 🤯

#BrandedCatalog Spotlight - Kalifano

Brand: Kalifano
Category: Home Decor
Template type: Collection-based intro card with a carousel highlighting brand values

DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS:

  • An intro card is designed to provide context on the collection/product set being advertised.

  • The template uses lifestyle shots to showcase how the products would fit into their shoppers’ homes.

  • Rotating brand values are added to highlight trustworthiness and the reasons their customers prefer them.

Use intro cards with Socioh’s Branded Catalogs to add context and highlight the most important message in your dynamic ads.

Brand: Nyx
Category: Cosmetics
Format: Static Image (Story)

WHY IT WORKS:

What do you do when you’re a well-known brand but want to draw attention to a new drop?

If you’re a luxury/higher-end brand, you’ll probably want to focus on the product and keep things minimalistic, like this ad by Coach, or this back-to-school ad by New Balance.

But what if you’re announcing new variants for a budget-but-super-popular product?

Nyx has chosen to go all in for this ad.

Not only does the choice of an acid-green background stand out, but their typeface, font colors, product shot, and even their name, all have one goal — to grab attention.

The brand carefully highlights that this is a crowd favorite, with the same formulation and price that their customers love.

After all, if you have a winning formula, you don’t need to change it!
